The blue pea ‘Papillon d’Orient’ impresses with its abundance of stunning, deep blue flowers. In tropical climates, this plant is grown as an evergreen perennial, while in Europe it is valued as a decorative annual.
Beyond its ornamental appeal, the flowers can be used as a natural food colouring. Simply soak them in cold water for 24 hours to extract the vivid blue colour, perfect for colouring dishes such as blue rice.
Flowering takes place from July to October. This vigorous climbing plant can reach an impressive length of up to 250 cm.
